Dusty Johnson - Spiritual Director & Life Coach
  • I have been married over 35 years and have three adult sons and seven grandkids. Adoption and fostering is part of our family story and makes for some of the more beautiful and complicated parts of our journey.

I am a natural leader with an active gift of discernment and motivation for growth. As a self-identified ambivert and Enneagram 1W2, I prefer small groups and have come to accept that life is generally messier than I prefer.

As a bi-vocational ministry leader, I also operate a small business that includes building and remodeling homes, while owning and managing a rental property.

Some of my other interests include warm beaches, soothing waters, good friends, early mornings, fresh coffee, amber ales, mixed media art, music, guitar, biking, pickleball, DYI projects, and trying to bring a little more of God’s Kingdom to earth.

  • My spiritual journey began in my mid- teen years with a definitive response and surrender to God's love.

I later felt called to vocational ministry, which led to serving as a credentialed minister within the Foursquare Church, with 25+ years serving in various leadership roles such as youth pastor, summer camping director, and senior pastor.

In my late 30s, I recognized my hunger for deeper spiritual formation. The demanding pace of program-focused, leader-driven church ministry left my soul parched. This was a difficult period marked by a family member's struggle with addiction that deepened my compassion and empathy for others. It also brought a new awareness of my own personal limitations.

I longed for a slower, more balanced approach to my relationship with God and service to others.

This transformative experience, though difficult, taught me to embrace weakness and discover purpose in suffering, pain, loss, and the complexities faced by those in ministry leadership.

My ongoing formation led me to more contemplative practices of my faith and helped me be more aware, regulated, and attuned with myself, God, and others.

In 2021, I pivoted from my role as senior pastor to seek targeted training and education leading me to the ministry of SoulFriend as a spiritual director and life coach.

  • My years of vocational ministry made me keenly aware of the need for proactive and ongoing soul care for ministers.

My approach is more practitioner than academic. I hold a deep respect for the following components necessary for ongoing transformation:

    1. Recognizing the ongoing and dynamic interplay of the Holy Spirit on behalf of each person.

    2. Embracing each person’s unique journey and their own process of self-discovery.

    3. Allowing time, space, and autonomy for each person to respond to God with authentic faith and obedience to His promptings.

I seek to welcome clients with the same authenticity and openness that shape my relationship with God and the way I offer my gifts in service to others.
